Early care and education professionals partner with families to ignite a love for learning in young children. During life’s most rapid period of development, they build upon a child’s expanding curiosity and emerging skills to lay the foundation for all future learning.

Supporting Early Childhood Care and Education

“The first five years have so much to do with how the next 80 turn out.”

Bill Gates, Sr., Co-Chair of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation

We believe that early childhood professionals are unsung heroes–the “brain builders” of the future. Working with children every day, you know when a child is catching on quickly or needs help to conquer a skill. You have the power to light the path of learning, captivating and building the young mind to make play and learning one.

WCSS promotes the work of early care and education professionals and seeks to support your professional growth and teaching environments. WCSS Quality Specialists work with licensed child care sites on innovative practices to raise quality, while health and safety consultants provide critical training.  And our monthly Building Blocks newsletter is written with you in mind.  If you’re not already on our mailing list, we invite you to subscribe by clicking here.

Your impact on young children is powerful! Watch this short video in which veteran educator Rita Pierson talks about the power of the connection between teachers and children:

Need Help with a Project?

WCSS works with community volunteers on projects that support early childhood education. If your center has a need, we encourage you to submit a Child Care Facility Project Request Form. Please visit our project idea bank page to see some of the possibilities. We prioritize volunteer efforts for centers serving children receiving child care subsidy assistance.
