Language Is The Key
Language is the Key encourages language and reading skills of preschool-aged children in a weekly parent-child group. Groups run in 10 week sessions throughout the year and are offered in locations across Wake County. Parents learn strategies to support their child’s language development so that they have tools to help their children on the path to reading. Parents do not need to be experts in reading to motivate their children to read and develop creative thought and speech. These weekly sessions follow the Dialogic Reading Model, which includes exchanging age-appropriate books and teaching parents a method of reading and playing with their children that develops their child’s verbal and reading skills in preparation for kindergarten.
