Do you want to prepare your 4-year-old for kindergarten, but you can't afford preschool?

Wake County SmartStart is accepting Pre-K Applications for 4 Pre-K programs across the county for the 08-09 school year.

The Wake County Pre-K Application is a collaboration among Wake County Public Schools/Title One, Telamon Head Start, Wake County Human Services' Subsidy Office and Wake County Smart Start's More at Four Program.

When families fill out one application for their four-year-old, they can be considered for 4 programs. Applications for Wake County Public Schools Pre-K Services runs from Feb. 1 to April 11, 2008. Head Start, More at Four and Child Care Subsidy programs will consider applications througout the year.

The pre-kindergarten initiative is community-based, voluntary, and designed to prepare 4-year-olds for school with a focused curriculum that enhances children’s development physically, socially, emotionally, mentally, which includes language, communication, cognitive, general knowledge and approaches to learning.
