Through the following services, Wake County SmartStart has achieved steady progress in increased identification and connection to early intervention services for children with special needs, increased access to preventive health care and increased parenting confidence and competence in high needs communities.

Community Action Plan for Young Hispanic/Latino Children Leadership developmental program that engages parents to advocate for needed services on behalf of their children.
Consultation and Support for Children with Special Needs Consultation, counseling and parent/teacher education program to effectively manage children’s behavior difficulties.
Family Literacy Program Educational support for parents with low literacy skills to implement literacy practices at home with children ages 0 to 5.
Family Outreach and Resource Services Outreach and connection to needed services; parenting education and use of resource materials to families with young children in eastern Wake County.
Hospital to Home Early Intervention Program Early intervention services for infants in Newborn Infant Care Units and transition to home before eligible to receive early intervention services.
Intensive Home Visiting and Support Services for Adolescent Parents Family assessment, information and connection to services/resources, counseling, life skills education, transportation assistance and advocacy for teen parents.
Intensive Home Visiting and Support Services for First-time Parents Childrearing education and social supports to address family needs of first-time parents.
Intensive Home Visiting and Support Services for High Needs Communities Family assessment, information and connection to needed services/resources for high-needs families.
Parents as Teachers Home Visiting Model Parent education using PAT national curriculum, periodic developmental screenings, connection to needed services for families of children at risk for school failure.
Parental Support for Families of Children with Special Needs Trained parents of children with special needs are paired with new parents to share resources, support and knowledge about parenting children with special needs.
Social/Emotional Interventions for Young Children Mental health therapeutic intervention, case management and home visiting services for at-risk children who have a mental health concern that can impact their development and readiness for kindergarten.
Speech/Language and Hearing Screening Program Screening program to identify children with special needs and work with intervention services through Wake County Public Schools.
